Rapid disaster relief has become extremely relevant in the wake of severe climate change. This deployable tower prototype serves as a rapidly deployable shelter for disaster-stricken areas in need of temporary accommodation. The responsive louvers rotate around the central axis to provide variable degrees of shading and coverage. The assembly of a real scale prototype involves raising the fully collapsed louvers (in the form of a thin sheet) at specified intervals along the center column, in ways similar to that of prefab building construction, where the floors are raised on the corner columns that act as "tracks".
